Our MMA class encompasses techniques from jiu-jitsu, muay Thai, judo, and wrestling.

Muay Thai -
Muay Thai Kick Boxing is the foundation striking art of most MMA programs and is know as the “art of eight limbs” for the use of kicks, punches, knees, and elbows as its’ primary striking weapons. Muay Thai utilizes speed, leverage, and accuracy to effectively control and dominate an opponent. An art based on aggression, defensive skills and razor sharp technique, Muay Thai is the striking art of kings.

The Japanese art of Judo founded by Jigoro Kano is centered around the concept of throws and takedowns based on leverage, control, and redistribution of momentum. Recognized as an Olympic sport Judo enjoys world- wide popularity and has become the foundation of many MMA fighters takedown strategy. Our Judo program is centered on modifying sport Judo to work for a variety of sporting avenues such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, No Gi submission wrestling, and MMA.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu -
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu - Jiu-Jitsu, translated as 'the gentle art,' is the oldest form of martial art. It has also been defined with terms like yielding, softness, subtleness, and pliability. Its origins date back to India more than 2,000 years before Christ. From there it spread throughout Asia and eventually settled in Japan. In 1914, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu champion Esai Maeda arrived in Brazil to help establish a Japanese immigration colony. Once in Brazil he was aided by Gastao Gracie, a Brazilian scholar and politician of Scottish decent. To show his gratitude, the oriental master taught the ancient secrets of this fighting style to Gastao's son, Carlos Gracie. Carlos taught Maeda's techniques to his brothers: Oswaldo, Gastao, Jorge and Helio and in 1925 they opened the first Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Botafogo, a district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is where the brothers, prompted by Carlos, essentially designed and laid the foundation for “Brazilian” Jiu-Jitsu. The Ultimate Fighting Championship was conceived by the Gracie Family, making this system a must for all MMA competitors. For truly they are the king of the mats.

Self Defense -
Self-Defense is based on the self-defense techniques refined by the Gracie family from Brazil. Age, physical ability, and body type do not hinder a person that utilizes this system. The techniques stress ease of application and few steps to neutralize your attacker. It is a straightforward way to defend you that does not require hours of extreme physical training. Due to the seriousness of an assault, repetition of the techniques is high in this course so that you are competent if you ever need to protect yourself. This course is offered based upon demand.
